All types of instruments can be used to praise the Lord

Good morning Heavenly Father. What a good and great morning it is. Thank you for the dawn where light shines forth from the prior darkness. Thank you for the light so that our eyes may see. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey.

And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals. (2 Samuel 6:5)

But also keep in mind what immediately follows (pointing out how they were incorrectly transporting the ark of God):

And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. (2 Samuel 6:6-7)

Lord, I’m here again. I’m ready to lift up your daughter. Let her play before you Lord. Let her play on an instrument made of wood. Let her music be joyful and acknowledging you Lord. Let her dance and play joyful melodies and harmonies. Let her fly through the air with joyful dancing. But I also ask that you protect her Lord. I ask that you keep her rejoicing on track and  on the path you would have her go. I ask that anytime her rejoicing is for the wrong reasons, that you open her eyes and her heart.  Let her not be deceived nor misled. Let her not forget that you have set down guidelines for her to follow, just as you set guidelines for the Israelites to follow when transporting the ark of God. And we will give the glory to you Lord. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Praise God with your violin among many nations

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for hummingbirds, so small and pretty as they dart here and there between their favorite flowers. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. (Psalm 57:7-9)

Lord, I’m here again. I so look forward to the times when I can simply sit with you. And now I offer up another prayer for your daughter. She has the musical talent and skills. She is filled with the joy of the Lord. And now I ask what seems to be a big prayer. Let her heart be fixed on you God. Let her heart be ready.  Let her be determined Lord. Wake her early so she can sing and play to you. Let her wake the sleepy dawn with praise. Let this be her joy regardless of what nation she is in. And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours Lord. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Rejoice! Praise God with Dance! Sing Praise with harp and lyre

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank  you for the great variety of food  and drink! Today I thank you for coffee (and hot chocolate … and the two intertwined as Mocha).  I also thank you for the next scripture to use for my prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.  Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.  Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. (Psalm 149:1-3)

Lord, I am here to sit with you again, as I begin another daily prayer for your daughter you love. Today I ask that you give her a new song. I ask that you place a new song in her heart and in her mind. Let it be a song of rejoicing. Let it be a song that she can dance to. Let it be a song that gives praise to you Lord, even while others may not recognize exactly why the song seems so “good”. And we will give the glory to you Lord. All the glory is yours. I ask this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Skilled, Trained Accomplished Musicians

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for bees. Yes, they can sting, but they are necessary for other parts of your creation. Thank you for allowing us to see how the many parts of your creation can be interdependent on each other. And thank you for the scripture that speaks about accomplished musicians who were skilled and trained, just as your daughter Lindsey is!

All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the Lord, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight. (1 Chronicles 25:6-7)

Lord, I’m here again. I am here to begin today’s prayer for your daughter. You have gifted her with amazing musical talent and skill, just as those that 1 Chronicles speaks about. I ask that you open doors for her to use her skill and talent in ways that bring praise to your name Lord. She is an accomplished musician, just like Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman. Reveal to her ways that she may bring praise to you through her music throughout the world. And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

God’s statutes can be your song everywhere you journey!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the moon which is full and bright this night. Thank you for the halo around the moon (often it means rain the next day). Thank you for the way the moon can actually look different at times, bright white to beige. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. (Psalm 119:54)

Lord, I’m back. I’m here to pray for Lindsey, your daughter who loves you and strives to follow your commands and statutes. Today I ask that you would let obeying your statutes be like a song to her. Just as music is part of her life, let following you be just like another song to her. Let your statutes be her song wherever she journeys to. And the glory is yours Lord. All the glory is yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Musicians were Sought Out!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for another beautiful day. Thank you for displaying your majesty everywhere around me as I go outside today. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps. (Nehemiah 12:27)

Lord, here I am again. I am here to begin another prayer for your daughter you love! Today I ask that you let her be sought out to sing praises to you on her violin, just as they sought out good musicians thousands of years ago when scripture says “they sought the Levites out” to include music with the gladness of the day. I ask that you open doors for Lindsey to do just that … to bring gladness into our days now. And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Can you play songs of praise to those who mock you?

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for eyes that see. Thank you for the beauty in a rain drop. Thank you for the beauty in a puddle. Thank you for the beauty of one raindrop as it drops into that one small puddle. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for Lindsey your daughter:

We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? (Psalm 137:2-4)

Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you, and to lift up your daughter to you. Are there times and places where she is not to play her violin, even in praise of you? Can she step aside rather than play to those who mock her God? Grant her the wisdom and discernment to know when to play and when not. And let her feel your presence with her at the times when she is playing to you Lord. And the glory is all yours. Glory!  I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Harp playing began with Adam’s great great great great great grandson Jubal

Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the interesting weather. One minute a cool breeze and then 60 seconds later a downpour of rain. Six minutes later it is back to a nice day with a cool breeze. Thank you for illustrating “change” to us in this visible and experiential way! And also thank you for the scripture that points out how important musical instruments are, right down to letting us know who started it all! Thank you for Jubal :)

And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. (Genesis 4:17-21)

Lord, I’m here. I’m here to talk with you. And I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey who plays a stringed instrument just like Jubal. And today I ask that you allow Lindsey glimpses into the history of violin music, as far back as is knowable today. I ask that she have opportunity to meet people who have researched and studied the historical aspects of string instruments. And I ask that you let this historical basis aid her in playing and composing her music today. And the glory goes to you God. All the glory is yours. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Let your violin play music to our God!

Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for the godly people you surround me with. Thank you for the support and encouragement that these others provide to me. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God: (Psalm 147:7)

Lord, it’s me. I’m happy to come sit with you today. It is a joy to be with you and to know that you are indeed with me always … now and every step of the way. But right now I pause to lift up your daughter you love. I lift Lindsey up to you Lord. She is extremely talented with the violin as well as with composing music. I ask that you show her how her violin can be singing praise to you. Give her the notes, give her the tune, give her the harmony. And then give her many opportunities to play her violin as a concert to you Lord. For the glory all goes to you. To you is all the glory. Glory!  I ask this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Let your violin sing praises to God – sing a new song to him!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for ears to hear. Thank you for music to hear. Thank you for the new songs. Thank you for stringed instruments that sing praises to you. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for Lindsey:

I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. (Psalm 144:9)

Lord, I’m here to sit with you again and lift up your daughter Lindsey. You have gifted her with extreme musical talent and skill. I ask that you give her a new song this week. I ask that you reveal to her a song that allows her violin to sing praises to you. And we will give the glory to you. The glory is all yours Lord. I ask this all in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
