Be a Do-er not just a Hear-er
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the interesting night sky as we just witnessed an eclipse of the moon. Thank you for the clear night to see the eclipse from start to end. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. (Genesis 26:4-5)
Lord, I’m here, but I’m a bit distracted. I ask you to help me with distractions. Help me know what is a distraction and what is the item at hand that you’d have me do. Lindsey, today’s scripture is amazing in how it refers to obedience, hearing God’s voice and then actually doing what God asks. Abraham did. And the earth was blessed as a result! I pray for you today Lindsey, that as you hear God’s voice that you would be a do-er as well as a hear-er. And then I pray that God would bless not only you, but your family, your friends, and all those around you. And the glory goes to God. All the glory is his. Amen (more…)
Be blessed as you listen for God’s voice and obey what he asks of you.
Good morning Heavenly Father. What a wonderful day you made. Thank you for this day. Thank you for the morning turning into afternoon and then evening and night. Thank you for the progression during each day. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. (Genesis 22:15-18)
Lord, I’m here. I’m here to begin another prayer for the daughter you love. Lindsey, today’s scripture is about obeying what God is telling you even if you think you have a better idea. Perhaps God is merely testing whether you actually would obey him in all cases! Perhaps God will ask you to give up something and then as you are in the process of giving it up he might shout “WAIT”, just as he did for Abraham! Listen for “Wait … now I know that you would do even the hardest things for me!” Lord, this is big. I ask that you be with Lindsey during any of these times of testing. I ask that you open her mind to what is true and fade away any deception and lies. I ask that you let her eyes see clearly what is before her. I ask that her heart be ready. Lord, I ask that you find ways that Lindsey would KNOW that you are there and what you are asking of her. And then Lord, I ask that you bless her and her family, just like you blessed Abraham. Bless her as she obeys your voice! And we will give all the glory to you. The glory is all yours Lord. Glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Let your actions show that you believe God!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for family. And thank you for the three scriptures for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. (James 2:23)
It was the first book of the Bible (Genesis) which said it:
6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:6)
And then in 2 Chronicles it says Abraham was God’s friend:
7 Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? (2 Chronicles 20:7)
Lord, it’s me again. I would like to begin my next daily prayer for your daughter you love. Yes, Lindsey believes you Lord, so I ask that you count that as righteousness for her. I ask that you call her your friend! However, Lindsey, be sure to read the 4 sentences that come before this statement in James! Be reminded that it is more than what you believe, more than mere faith … it is what you actually DO in addition to your faith and believing God. So, Lord, I ask that you give Lindsey many opportunities to put her faith into action. Give her many opportunities to actually DO things that align with her faith and what she hears you saying to her. Let her hear you clearly Lord. And give her the courage to actually do things that are not in her comfort zone! And we will give the glory to you. The glory is all yours Lord. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
God rested. So should we!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for vision. Thank you for both eyes that see and for all of creation you created to be seen. And thank you for giving us your Word, including the story of creation and how you rested on the 7th day. Yes, thank you for the New Testament scripture that directly refers to the Genesis creation account:
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. (Hebrews 4:4)
That certain place where he spoke was in Genesis:
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. (Genesis 2:2-3)
Lord, I’m here on behalf of Lindsey, your daughter. Today, I ask that you grant her rest. I ask that you grant her rest in you. Give her rest today, and each day as she follows the path you place before her. We know that rest is important, for you say so yourself in your Word! As Lindsey uses the many skills and talents that you have gifted her with, I ask that you also provide her with much needed rest. And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours Lord. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Harp playing began with Adam’s great great great great great grandson Jubal
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the interesting weather. One minute a cool breeze and then 60 seconds later a downpour of rain. Six minutes later it is back to a nice day with a cool breeze. Thank you for illustrating “change” to us in this visible and experiential way! And also thank you for the scripture that points out how important musical instruments are, right down to letting us know who started it all! Thank you for Jubal :)
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. (Genesis 4:17-21)
Lord, I’m here. I’m here to talk with you. And I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey who plays a stringed instrument just like Jubal. And today I ask that you allow Lindsey glimpses into the history of violin music, as far back as is knowable today. I ask that she have opportunity to meet people who have researched and studied the historical aspects of string instruments. And I ask that you let this historical basis aid her in playing and composing her music today. And the glory goes to you God. All the glory is yours. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
(I) Image of God – Eve
Lindsey, you are made in the image of God, just as Eve was. You have received many good things just as she did. I pray that you would be content with all that you have and not desire the one thing that you can’t have (the apple of that one forbidden tree).
Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the new day. Thank you for the cool breeze and the warm sunshine. Thank you for the wisps of clouds in the sky. Thank you for the birds singing in the distance. Thank you for your wonderful creation that you made just for us. And thank you for the scripture for the next woman in the Bible, Eve, who you made in your image, for the letter I:
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27)
and
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3)
Lord, here I am. I am ready to pray for Lindsey, your daughter again today. Lindsey, I pray that you would be able to resist the devil and that your mind would not be corrupted. I pray that God would protect you for you are his daughter, created in his image. He loves you Lindsey. I pray that your mind would resist making this complicated when it really is quite simple. I pray the simplicity that is in Christ over you. And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
(I) You are the Image of God
Heavenly Father, thank you for the clean fresh air this morning. Thank you for the warm clothes and jacket so I can go out into the brisk morning air where I can exhale and a bit of a mist appears coming out of my mouth. Thank you for the phrase “you can see your breath”… interesting … it was in the beginning of Genesis that we read how you created men and women in your image:
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27)
And then just a few paragraphs later we read about this creation in another very interesting way … which relates to how I can “see my breath” … for scriptures say that your breath was life … that you breathed life into man:
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
Lord, here I am. Here I am as usual. Here I am as I am each day to sit with you and to lift up your daughter Lindsey in prayer. And today you gave me two scriptures to use for my prayer! And so I pray them both over your daughter and I ask that you find ways to remind her that you created her in your image and that you breathed life into her. Lord, I ask that you breathe a fresh blast of life into her this day. Totally refresh her with new life, new energy, new vigor. And we will give you the glory. All the glory is yours Lord. I ask this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Others can see that your success is with God’s help
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for light, and how interesting it is when bright light casts shadows. Thank you for how my eyes can perceive depth and distance and perspective. Thank you that I can differentiate between the thousands of colors that I can see. And especially thank you for your Word which has been carefully preserved and translated so that I can read and understand your scripture to use for my prayer this day:
And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. (Genesis 39:2-3)
Lord, it is a joy to come before you on behalf of your daughter who loves you so much. Those around her can see that you are causing her to be successful in the projects you set before her. I ask that you continue to be with her this day. Let her know that you are there with her right now. I ask that she continue to prosper in all things with your help and guidance. And we will give you the praise and glory. All glory to you Lord. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
