Live By Faith
Good Morning Heavenly Father! Thank you for the pleasant day – wonderful for my trip to visit my brother. Thank you for a bus and a plane to get me there and back. Thank you Lord. And thank you for the scriptures to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:17)
It is written in Habakkuk:
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)
Lord, I’m here. I am enjoying sitting with you. Before anything else, I wish to lift up Lindsey. She is using the exceptional talents and skills that you gifted her with. She is using those skills to inspire thousands of people. And so, Lindsey, today I pray that you will always be able to live by faith. This is one of my favorite things because I have a unique perspective on it. Many times I have google searched to see what this condition is that I have, but have never found it mentioned. I usually cannot visualize roads while I am driving. I can drive the same way to the same place 300 times, and still at times I will be driving there and my “path” blacks out in my mind. I see the road I am driving on but I can’t picture the route I am supposed to take. I can’t “see” my next turn ahead of time. So, I just keep driving in the right direction assuming that when the turn comes, that I will recognize it and turn at that intersection. Then I will keep driving assuming that I will be fine even though I can’t visualize where I will turn next. But when I get close to the intersection, all of a sudden it is clear and I have time to make the turn. One of my good friends told me that this is a blessing, a unique blessing that God has given me. My friend told me that I may find living by faith much easier since for decades I have been driving by faith! And I think he is right. I no longer consider this a problem or disability, but I consider it a gift that helps me to know that I can truly live by faith. And so, Lindsey, I pray that you also will always find ways to remember to simply live by faith. All you need to know is the next step. Once you take the next step, then God will show you the step that comes after it. However, in your case, it seems that God treats you to a road map well ahead of time. You have a road map of the places you are scheduled to tour. And you have a supportive godly team that goes along with you. I thank the Lord for providing you with the support and godly advice that you need when you need it. And so, just remember that what Habakkuk said thousands of years ago was so important that Paul repeated it, quoted it in his letter to the Romans… Live By Faith. And all the while we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Be one who admires! Be one who praises!
Despiser (despise) – Antonym: one who admires (admire) [dictionary]
Scoffer (scoff) – Antonym: one who praises (praise) [dictionary]
Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for our minds. Thank you for minds that can see and wonder. Thank you for minds that can see letters and make out words; that can see words and make out sentences; that can see sentences and make out complete thoughts. Thank you for how our minds can understand what we see! And thank you for the scripture in the New Testament that refers back to several prophets of the Old Testament!
40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. (Acts 13:40-41)
A prophet who spoke of this was Habakkuk:
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. (Habakkuk 1:5)
2 Kings refers to prophets also saying this:
10 And the Lord spake by his servants the prophets, saying,
11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:
12 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. (2 Kings 21:10-12)
Jeremiah also spoke of God doing something so unbelievable that it makes your ears tingle:
3 And say, Hear ye the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. (Jeremiah 19:3)
And so did Samuel:
11 And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. (1 Samuel 3:11)
Lord, it’s me again. I’m here to pray for Lindsey, your daughter who loves you. Lindsey, today’s scriptures are quite interesting. On the one hand, the prophets of the old announced to the people that God was about to do something that would seem unbelievable to them, something that would make their ears tingle! The book of Acts tells about what Paul said in the Synagogue in Antioch, and how he used what the prophets of old had announced as a WARNING to those he was speaking to. Perhaps this can be a warning to us as well, Lindsey. Paul gave his warning to the “despisers” and the “scoffers”. He warned them and even said to take care that what the prophets spoke about does not happen to them! And who was the “them”? The despisers and scoffers! So, today I pray for you Lindsey. I pray that you would not be a scoffer nor a despiser. I pray that you would not be one who despises nor one who scoffs. I pray that you strive to be the opposite of this. Yes! I pray that you would be one who admires; one who praises! Lord, I ask that you give Lindsey many opportunities to show how she is one who admires and praises. And we will give the glory to you Lord. All the glory is yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Use your violin to accompany songs from scripture
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for your Word filled with the truths we need in this life. Thank you for sending your Son to redeem and save us. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
Lord, here I am. I’m here as usual to pray for your daughter you love. And the scripture for today includes something I had not noticed before, even after reading Habakkuk many times over the years … it ends by specifying it was for the chief singer, the song leader or choir director and is to be accompanied by stringed instruments! And so today I pray this over you Lindsey. I pray that the stringed instrument you play can accompany scriptures… can accompany songs from scripture. I pray that God will reveal more of this to you today and that he will give you many opportunities to use your violin like this. And the glory is to God. He gets all the glory. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Don’t become puffed up – Do live by your faith!
Heavenly Father, thank you for another new day started anew! Thank you for the majestic sunrise and masterpiece sunset. Thank you for the moon and the stars in the night. Thank you for the noon day sun. Thank you for the clouds with their rain and snow. Thank you for this wonderful world that you created for us. Thank you for giving us Your Word as our scriptures. And thank you for the scripture to base today’s prayer for your daughter:
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)
Lord, what an interesting time we are in. And in the midst of the many things going on all around me, I enjoy taking time away from it all to sit with you. And now with tears I come before you on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. With tears and bated breath as you allow me a glimpse of what it can be like to be in the spotlight day after day. And so I pray another big prayer today for your daughter Lindsey who loves you so very much. Remember her this day Lord for she wants to live by her faith. Lord, be with her this day and help her walk by faith. Show her the way to walk and give her the courage to walk it. Lord, Habakkuk reminds us what it means to NOT live by faith … I ask that you help Lindsey to not stray from your path. Help her to not become puffed up. Keep her on your path and help her to keep her ego from being inflated. She wants to live with integrity Lord, so be with her every step of the way. And we will glorify you Lord. We will sing your praises. All the glory is to you Lord. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen.
