Ask, Seek, Knock! A good habit!

In GreekMatthew 7:7 – Αιτειτε και δοθησεται υμιν, ζητειτε και ευρησετε,  κρουετε και ανοιγσεται υμιν·

Looking at each of the verbs here we see that  αιειτε, ζητειτε, and κρουετε are each in the present active imperative with the present being in a customary sense as in “make it a habit” to ask, seek, knock – in other words: ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking.

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the wind. I can’t see where it is coming from nor where it is going. I can’t even see it, yet I know it is there because I can feel it. I might not be able to see you Heavenly Father, but I can feel you all around me, so I know that you are there. Thank you also for the scripture for today’s prayer, which is one of the few places where scripture points out what we should be striving to make a habit in our lives… make it a habit to ask… make it a habit to seek… make it a habit to knock:

[Jesus said:] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to sit with you. I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. Today, I pray over your habits Lindsey. You may have a habit of practicing on your violin (or even in the air while sitting in a car… click to see it). Jesus seems to be suggesting that you add another habit to your life (or is this already firmly in place for you?) To become a habit, we must actually do something repeatedly for a while. And so, today I pray that you would keep in tune to the Lord as you walk with him each day. Ask for what you need. Seek the opportunities. Knock at doors so they may open to you. And then do it all over again the next day (or even the next hour). Be persistent. And Lord, I pray that you would open the appropriate doors when Lindsey knocks. I pray that you would reveal to her all that she seeks after. And I pray that her asking would not be in vain, but that you give to her when you hear her asking. The glory is all yours Lord. Glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

No one can rob you of your joy! Ask! Be an “asker” in the name of Jesus!

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the new day. Thank you for peace of mind as I start this new day. Thank you for reminding me that I just need to keep my focus on Jesus and not be distracted by what I see to the left and to the right of me. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: (John 16:21-26)

Lord, here I am! I am ready to start today’s prayer for your daughter you love! Lindsey, today I pray that your heart is rejoicing. I pray that you recognize and realize that no one can rob you of this joy. And right now I pray that you realize that Jesus is telling you to ASK … to ASK … and to ASK IN HIS NAME! And so I pray that you can be an asker this day (yeah, I just made up that word).  I pray that you can be someone who asks … who is not afraid to ask in the name of Christ Jesus.  And I pray that God will answer… and that you will hear his answer clearly. And we both can give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray and ask this all IN THE NAME OF CHRIST JESUS, KING OF KINGS! Amen (more…)

Let Jesus’s words abide and remain in you… then ask for your desires

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for restoring me, for rescuing me, for replenishing me. And thank you for providing the scriptures to use in my prayers based on things that Jesus said, including the one for today:

[Jesus said:] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7)

Lord, I’m here again on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. Lindsey, today I pray that you will continue to abide in Jesus. I pray that you will continue your daily reading of Scriptures and ask that the Lord would embed the words within you. I pray that you would continue and remain in Jesus and in his word. And then I pray that the Lord would grant you what you desire, what you need, what you want. And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Ask in Jesus’s name so the Father may be glorified

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the morning sunlight and gentle breeze. Thank you for the wisps of clouds. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)

Lord, I’m here again to begin another prayer for your daughter. Lindsey, today I pray that the Father may be glorified as I ask in the name of Christ Jesus for wisdom and discernment for you. I ask that he grant you extended wisdom and discernment over and above of all that you already have. I ask that he shine a light on all that you should see and shield you from all that is not for you. I ask that you, in turn, would be a light to others and that they could see Jesus in you wherever you go. And the glory is all his! I ask this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

When asking, ask in the name of Jesus!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for your continued protection. Thank you for watching over my family. And thank you for the scripture that reminds us that we can indeed pray and ask in the name of Jesus:

[Jesus said:] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (John 15:16)

Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to sit with you. I ask for your rest. I ask for both myself and for Lindsey, your daughter. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, just as you instructed me to. And the glory is all yours. All the glory is to God. Amen (more…)
