All the disciples scattered when Jesus was arrested… will you?
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for showing so clearly how Jesus himself confirmed that prior scriptures were not be replaced by him, but rather that he was encompassing them. The old and the new are interconnected. Today’s two scriptures show this quite well:
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. (Mark 14:27)
Yes, it was written in Zechariah:
Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. (Zechariah 13:7)
Lord, I’m here. I’m here on behalf of Lindsey, your daughter who loves you. I pray that you will make yourself known to her. Lindsey, today’s scripture refers to all the disciples scattering when Jesus was arrested. Even Peter, who was so very confident that he would stand by Jesus no matter what. If we wonder what we would have done, we have the advantage of knowing the end of the story. We know that Jesus rose from the dead victoriously, so we need not worry nor be afraid nor scatter. So, that is my prayer for you Lindsey. I pray that you would know Jesus so well, that even when things look bad, you will still cling to him… actually, especially when things look bad! I pray that the Lord would grant you the courage to stick with him wherever you go. And we will give the glory to him. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Never forget that you are a child of God!
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for loving me. Thank you for loving me as your son. Thank you for reminding me how you delight in me, even when I need some correction! And thank you for the scriptures to begin this next 40 days of prayers based on New Testament scriptures quoting from the Old Testament that reminds Lindsey that she indeed is a daughter of God:
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. (Hebrews 12:5-6)
The “exhortation” appears to be from Deuteronomy and Proverbs:
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. (Deuteronomy 8:5)
And:
My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. (Proverbs 3:11-12)
Lord, I’m here to pray for your daughter Lindsey this day. She has not forgotten that she is your daughter! I ask that you show her how much you delight in her. I ask that as you correct her in her ways, that you also remind her that such correction is to be expected if she is indeed your daughter. Remind her that if you didn’t correct her, you also then would not be treating her like your daughter, for you correct those you love just as a father corrects his children. We will rejoice that Lindsey is your daughter. And we will give the glory to you Lord. All the glory is yours. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Play and Dance before the Lord with all Your Might!
Heavenly Father, Welcome! Yes, Welcome! Thank you for being with me these last 200 days of praying for your daughter you love, for Lindsey. Thank you for bringing the right scriptures to mind for each of my 200 prayers for your talented daughter. Thank you for filling her heart with your joy and letting it show to all who see her. Thank you for these last 40 days of prayers all based on scriptures about music and musicians. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer as it describes your daughter so well … playing and dancing with all her might!
And it was told king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness. And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings. And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts. And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death. (2 Samuel 6:12-23)
Lord, I’m here again, as usual. I am here to lift up your daughter who loves you with this special prayer. Lord, let her play and dance with all her might before you today. Let the joy of the Lord be evident in her performance. Give her the opportunity to play and dance with all her might, with all her strength and to celebrate before you Lord. Some may wonder how she can be dancing like this before you … but as David said, it was not shamelessly, it was before the Lord! And those common women honored him for showing his intensity in loving his God. I pray this over you Lindsey. I pray that you may have opportunity to play and dance with such intensity before your God. And all the glory is his. The glory all goes to God. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
You are appointed as a Musician to play your Violin Joyfully
Heavenly Father good morning. Thank you for providing us with such interesting weather. Calm and humid and then suddenly extremely windy and cool. Raining hard and then all of a sudden sunny and nice. And all this in just one day. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy. (1 Chronicles 15:16)
Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you. I am ready to pray for Lindsey now. Lindsey, I pray today that you would be able to use the many musical talents, skills and gifts with joy. I pray that your concerts would be joyful times for you. I pray that the thousands who come to hear you will hear more than just you. I pray that the love and grace of God will shine through each of your performances. Perhaps God has set you in this place just like how 1 Chronicles refers to musicians being appointed to sing and to play their instruments. I pray that the joy of the Lord would be with you during each day of your tour. And we can give the glory to God. All the glory goes to God. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Welcome God to come – sing and play your instruments (and maintain a childlike enthusiasm!)
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the waves upon the beach. Thank you for the joy they bring to the children. Thank you for the excitement in their voices, in their eyes, in their jumping around. Thank you for reminding us that we are to be like little children if we are to enter the kingdom of heaven*. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey, who is very much like those energetic, enthusiastic children:
Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. (2 Chronicles 5:12-14)
Lord, here I am again. I am here on behalf of Lindsey again today as usual. I ask that whenever she plays her violin and praises you Lord, that you would fill that place even if it is a concert hall or outdoor music festival! And all the glory is yours Lord. Glory! I ask this all in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen
*And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
Psalms – to be accompanied by stringed instruments
From the Old Testament Student Manual:
(14) Neginoth [Psalm 4; 61]. … This name, from the Hebrew word meaning to strike a chord, … clearly denotes that the Psalm was to be sung to the accompaniment of stringed instruments.
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for fresh air, without it life would cease. Thank you for chords played upon stringed instruments and for ears to hear them. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter, Lindsey:
To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. (Psalm 4:1)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here on behalf of Lindsey who is taking time to read your word today and each day this year. I ask that you bring more and more understanding of the words that she reads in your Word. I ask that you let her understand how some of the psalms of David were written to be accompanied by stringed instruments playing chords. And I ask that you give her many opportunities to use her talent and skills to accompany scriptures with her violin. And all the glory is yours Lord. Glory! I pray this all in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Use your violin to accompany songs from scripture
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for your Word filled with the truths we need in this life. Thank you for sending your Son to redeem and save us. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
Lord, here I am. I’m here as usual to pray for your daughter you love. And the scripture for today includes something I had not noticed before, even after reading Habakkuk many times over the years … it ends by specifying it was for the chief singer, the song leader or choir director and is to be accompanied by stringed instruments! And so today I pray this over you Lindsey. I pray that the stringed instrument you play can accompany scriptures… can accompany songs from scripture. I pray that God will reveal more of this to you today and that he will give you many opportunities to use your violin like this. And the glory is to God. He gets all the glory. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Enter the city with the sound of stringed instruments then proceed to the house of the Lord
Good Morning Heavenly Father! Thank you for the small, the little, the tiny. The small drops of rain that combine into a puddle or even fill the streets. The little seed that ends up a huge bush or tree. The tiny organisms seen only under a microscope. Thank you Lord. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the Lord had made them to rejoice over their enemies. And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the Lord. (2 Chronicles 20:27-28)
Lord, I’m here again. It’s me! I am here as usual to begin another prayer for your daughter you love. Today I pray that Lindsey may be in the forefront with the leaders singing and playing and rejoicing. Let them parade into the city and then enter your temple with songs of praise. And all the glory is yours Lord. The glory is all yours. Glory. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Working Day and Night, Musicians were free from other responsibilities!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. I welcome a new day with you. I welcome a day anew with you. Thank you for always being with me and for that normal feeling when I feel your presence all around me. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter, Lindsey:
And these are the singers, chief of the fathers of the Levites, who remaining in the chambers were free: for they were employed in that work day and night. (1 Chronicles 9:33)
Lord, I’m here again. I am here to begin another day’s prayer for your daughter who loves you. Today I lift Lindsey up to you Lord as a talented skilled musician, day in and day out. Playing her music is how she is employed day and night. And so, Lindsey, today I bless you and ask that the Lord be there to guide you during each and every performance. I ask that the joy and love of the Lord be evident in your music wherever you may go. I ask that the Lord keep you strong in the midst of what scriptures refers to as working “day and night”! May the Lord keep you strong and healthy, in both body and spirit. And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
May Your Heart Rejoice as You Walk to the Music!
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for history. Thank you for how records are kept. Thank you for being there throughout history. Thank you for being with Isaiah as he wrote the scripture you gave me to use for today’s prayer for Lindsey:
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. (Isaiah 30:29)
Lord, it’s me. I’m here… as always. I look forward to our time together. And now I am ready to lift up your daughter. Lord, I ask that you draw her to you. I ask that you lead her into your mountain. I ask that you let her know that you are there. Give her a song Lord. Put gladness into her heart. She is looking. She is searching. She is seeking you Lord. Let her find you. Let it be the new song you give to her. Let it be the gladness of heart in that song. Let that be her walk. Let her walk to your song Lord. And we will give you the glory. All the glory is yours. I ask this all in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
