You are being renewed day by day
Good evening Heavenly Father. Thank you for another day, another day anew. Thank you for the friends you have provided me. And, yes, thank you for hair! What a marvelous concept! Hair can bring out the beauty in people as it flows here and there accentuating various facial features. While I may not be able to see some of the details of a face as most people, I do see hair. And it is so amazing! And to think … each strand of hair is “alive” in that it grows and over the years can change color (without any assistance of hair coloring). Thank you for this very interesting part of the people you create! And thank you for the scripture to use for this prayer:
13 Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2Corinthians 4:13-20 ESV)
Lord, I’m still here. I am ready to pray for your daughter you love. I am here to pray for Lindsey! Lord, I ask that you grant her a spirit of faith… that you would increase her faith. I also ask that since she believes that you give her many opportunities to “speak”. Give her the words Lord. Remind her of things she already knows. Remind her that just as Jesus was raised … and so shall she. Yes, Lindsey, that is God’s promise and he is faithful to keep his promises. Always! And I also pray for you Lindsey that you never lose heart. There will be momentary afflictions … likely MANY of them. But each one is preparing you for a weight of glory! And it is this unseen aspect of our lives that is so important. I pray that you would grasp how the unseen are what is important. Things you see will pass away, but the unseen is eternal. Continue to take hold of that Lindsey. And together let’s praise the Lord. Let’s give all the glory to him. Yes. I pray this all in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen.
King James Version for your reference:
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Read scripture out loud. Listen to it being read aloud to you!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for creating this magnificent universe just for us. Thank you for the tiny and for the huge. Huge as in stars… and galaxies! And thank you for the scripture to use for this prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. (Revelation 1:3)
Lord, I’m here. I’m here on behalf of Lindsey, your daughter. Lindsey, today’s scripture is interesting in that it seems to talk about having scriptures read out loud! This resonates well with me because for over six years a tiny group of us has been meeting every weekday morning in a coffee shop or restaurant to read scriptures out loud around our table. It is quite amazing how much reading a passage out loud helps … especially if you also hear it read out loud TO YOU! And so that seems to be what I am to pray for. Lindsey, I pray that you will be able to read scriptures out loud with a tiny group that you trust. I pray that you will be able to LISTEN as others in the tiny group read passages of scripture aloud. I pray that speaking and hearing them will bring you further understanding. I pray that this also will be a way to get together with others regularly with God’s Word! And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Love life? Then watch your tongue, do good and pursue peace
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for bright sunshine this morning. Thank you for the clean clear crisp air. Thank you for the joy of seeing bits of your glory all around me. And thank you for the scriptures for today’s prayer for Lindsey:
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (1 Peter 3:10-12)
This is what the FOR is referring to:
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. (Psalm 34:12-16)
Lord, it’s me. I’m here to begin today’s prayer for your daughter you love. Lindsey, today I pray that you continue to love life and desire many more good days ahead of you. What should you do? Interesting how Peter is quoting from what David wrote in Psalm 34. It seems like there are three things that both Peter and David say are important for you to do. First, watch what you say; guard your mouth … and interesting how that ties in with my prior prayers that speak to the condition of your heart. Next, turn away from evil and do good! Finally, pursue peace. So, today I pray these over you Lindsey. I pray that in your journey with God, that you would always watch what you are saying, always aim to do good and see peace as a goal worth pursuing. I pray that God would grant you the grace you need in this and that he would always show you the path to follow … for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears hear your prayers. And we will give the glory to him. All glory goes to God. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
When kicked, what comes out? Good? Evil?
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the rain that is essential for growth. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer that reminds me of something I learned a decade ago:
[Jesus said:] For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45)
Lord, I am here to sit with you, as usual. I am here to begin another day’s prayer for Lindsey, your daughter you love. Lindsey, today I pray for your heart. I pray that your heart would be filled with good. I pray that whenever you find your heart filled with ill intent, anger, frustration, evil … that God would help you to notice it and give you suggestions on what you can do to remove the bad and refill with good. Perhaps today’s scripture helps point out that we need to monitor our own hearts. A good indicator is what happens when we are kicked. When you get kicked, slighted, put down, insulted … what comes out of your mouth? Yes, your mouth, for out of the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks! If honey comes out, praise God that your heart is doing well. However, if you snap, yell, mumble, insult back … then take note that your built in indicator just lit up it’s red warning light. Your heart has been infiltrated with evil. Your heart has become a bit corrupted. I pray that when your warning indicator lights up that God would help you to notice it immediately and that he would show you what you need to do to refresh your heart, to refill it with good to overflowing and to expel everything that has polluted your heart! This is not easy, so I pray that God would be there at your side and that he would help you. I pray that he would pull you out of any pit you may have fallen into. I pray that he would dust you off, fill you with his joy and send you back smiling. And we can give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
