Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for bright sunshine this morning. Thank you for the clean clear crisp air. Thank you for the joy of seeing bits of your glory all around me. And thank you for the scriptures for today’s prayer for Lindsey:
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (1 Peter 3:10-12)
This is what the FOR is referring to:
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. (Psalm 34:12-16)
Lord, it’s me. I’m here to begin today’s prayer for your daughter you love. Lindsey, today I pray that you continue to love life and desire many more good days ahead of you. What should you do? Interesting how Peter is quoting from what David wrote in Psalm 34. It seems like there are three things that both Peter and David say are important for you to do. First, watch what you say; guard your mouth … and interesting how that ties in with my prior prayers that speak to the condition of your heart. Next, turn away from evil and do good! Finally, pursue peace. So, today I pray these over you Lindsey. I pray that in your journey with God, that you would always watch what you are saying, always aim to do good and see peace as a goal worth pursuing. I pray that God would grant you the grace you need in this and that he would always show you the path to follow … for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears hear your prayers. And we will give the glory to him. All glory goes to God. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen
New Testament (1 Peter 3:10-12 HCSB):
10 For the one who wants to love life
and to see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit,
11 and he must turn away from evil
and do what is good.
He must seek peace and pursue it,
12 because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and His ears are open to their request.
But the face of the Lord is against
those who do what is evil.
Old Testament (Psalm 34:12-16 HCSB):
12 Who is the man who delights in life,
loving a long life to enjoy what is good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from deceitful speech.
14 Turn away from evil and do what is good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and His ears are open to their cry for help.
16 The face of the Lord is set
against those who do what is evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth.
