Can you play songs of praise to those who mock you?
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for eyes that see. Thank you for the beauty in a rain drop. Thank you for the beauty in a puddle. Thank you for the beauty of one raindrop as it drops into that one small puddle. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for Lindsey your daughter:
We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land? (Psalm 137:2-4)
Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you, and to lift up your daughter to you. Are there times and places where she is not to play her violin, even in praise of you? Can she step aside rather than play to those who mock her God? Grant her the wisdom and discernment to know when to play and when not. And let her feel your presence with her at the times when she is playing to you Lord. And the glory is all yours. Glory! I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Harp playing began with Adam’s great great great great great grandson Jubal
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the interesting weather. One minute a cool breeze and then 60 seconds later a downpour of rain. Six minutes later it is back to a nice day with a cool breeze. Thank you for illustrating “change” to us in this visible and experiential way! And also thank you for the scripture that points out how important musical instruments are, right down to letting us know who started it all! Thank you for Jubal :)
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. (Genesis 4:17-21)
Lord, I’m here. I’m here to talk with you. And I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey who plays a stringed instrument just like Jubal. And today I ask that you allow Lindsey glimpses into the history of violin music, as far back as is knowable today. I ask that she have opportunity to meet people who have researched and studied the historical aspects of string instruments. And I ask that you let this historical basis aid her in playing and composing her music today. And the glory goes to you God. All the glory is yours. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for the godly people you surround me with. Thank you for the support and encouragement that these others provide to me. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

But right now I pause to lift up your daughter you love. I lift Lindsey up to you Lord. She is extremely talented with the violin as well as with composing music. I ask that you show her how her violin can be singing praise to you. Give her the notes, give her the tune, give her the harmony. And then give her many opportunities to play her violin as a concert to you Lord. For the glory all goes to you. To you is all the glory. Glory! I ask this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Music is significant! Musicians were appointed by King David
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for flexible and nimble fingers. Thank you for my ability to type so well. And thank you for the scripture that notes how musicians were so very important relating to praising God that the king appointed people as musicians and even those in charge of the sanctuary music:
And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after that the ark had rest. And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order. (1 Chronicles 6:31-32)
Lord, I am here again. I am here to rest with you, to relax with you, to enjoy time with you. And now I would like to pray on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. Lord, you have gifted her with such wonderful talent and skill for music, dance and in particular, playing the violin. I ask that you set her into places where she can use her gifts to praise you Lord. I ask that you provide her with many opportunities to utilize her skill on her stringed instrument to worship you Lord. And all the glory is yours. The glory goes to God! I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Play Praises to God as He Made You Glad
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the food we eat. Thank you for the house giving us shelter and a home. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. (Psalm 92:1-4)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. I ask that you continue to make her glad through your work. I ask that you allow her to triumph in your works! Give her many opportunities to play her violin in praise and thanksgiving to you today and this coming week… for your lovingkindness in the morning and for your faithfulness in the evening. Let your violin sing praises to God while you talk of his righteousness
Good Morning Heavenly Father. I welcome another new day with you. Thank you for your promise that I may start each day anew, anew with you. And thank you for the scripture about praising you with stringed instrument:
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. (Psalm 71:22-24)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to sit with you and to pray for your daughter you love. I pray for Lindsey this day. I ask that you hear her as she praises you on her violin. Let her sing and shout for joy over you so others ask her what is the reason for her joy! And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours Lord. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Who is in charge of the Songs of Thanksgiving?
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for words that can be set in the form of poetry. Thank you for the meters and the rhymes, even those passed down from former times. And thank you for the scripture to base my prayer for Lindsey today:
Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, which was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren. (Nehemiah 12:8)
Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you. I look forward to this joy each day. And today I am ready to begin my daily prayer for your daughter you love. Lindsey, it is interesting that praising God and offering him thanksgiving with music and song was so very important that scriptures tell us about the special people who were in charge of the thanksgiving songs! Today I pray that songs of thanksgiving and praise would become more and more part of your life. Just as music is part of you and part of your life, I pray that songs of praise and thanksgiving would also be part of your life. I pray that God would expand his many musical gifts in you to include the ability to fully integrate his Word and his music as part of everyday life. May your music open the eyes as well as the ears of those who hear it and may it be integral with your offering it as a song of thanksgiving to your God. And all the glory is his. The glory goes to God. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
