Heavenly Father. Thank you for how extravagant you were in creating this world for us. You created many kinds of plants, not just one. You created many types of trees, not just one kind. You created many kinds of fish, not just one kind. You created many kinds of animals, not just one kind. And you called all of them GOOD. Then when you created man, You created him in your image … no two alike, but all declared to be VERY GOOD. Thank you for all this GOOD that surrounds us. Thank you for all the VERY GOOD that we meet today. Thank you for being a gracious, generous and glorious God. And thank you for your scriptures for my prayer for your daughter who bears a striking resemblance to You (in Your image!):
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. (Proverbs 1:10)
Define entice: attract or tempt by offering pleasure or advantage.
Lord, I’m here on behalf of Lindsey, your daughter you love. Lindsey, the scripture for today’s prayer is quite simple, but profound. Simple, because it is telling you something that you already know from experience over the past years. Profound because what you actually do has consequences. So I am praying for you today Lindsey. I am not praying that you never are tempted by the pleasures of the world. Rather, I am praying that every time worldly pleasures try to entice you that you would not be persuaded. I pray that any time situations are before you that offer you a way to take advantage of others to get ahead yourself that you will resist. I pray that God would increase your wisdom and your self control. I pray that you would stay so near to Jesus that these worldly temptations are not quite so tempting because you know the joy of the Lord from experience. You know that your heart can delight in the Lord. And so we can give the glory to God. The glory is all his. Glory. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen
