(A) Abigail – Wise, Generous, Quick-witted and Blessed
Lindsey, may you have spunk just like Abigail. May you be as generous, quick-witted, wise and blessed as Abigail. May you be a peacemaker as Abigail was.
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for your Word. Thank you for the many people and stories in your Word. Thank you for the story about Abigail as I start looking at women in scriptures from A to Z. Most of her story is included at the end of this prayer, with a few highlights here:
And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid. …
I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the Lord will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the Lord, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days. …
And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me: And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. (1 Samuel 25:23-24, 28, 32-33)
Lord, here I am, ready to start the first of 26 prayers based on women in scriptures. I ask for your help and your words in these prayers as I pray for your daughter Lindsey. Today, I pray that you would bless her as David blessed Abigail. I pray that you would grant Lindsey wisdom and quick-wittedness where ever she goes. Let her see situations through your eyes Lord. I also pray that you would help her to know when it would be wise to be generous as Abigail was. Let Lindsey rise up during adversity and any pending crisis as Abigail did. And we will give all the glory to you Lord. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

It can set your feet tapping and your arms moving. Thank you for music! And thank you for helping me prepare for the next 26 days where I hope to have my prayers for your daughter based on women in the Bible from A to Z. But for today, I thank you for this scripture to base today’s prayer:
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:17)
Lord, I’m here. It’s me. I am anxious to begin another prayer for your daughter who loves you. Lindsey, I pray that you will continue walking with a humble and contrite heart. In those days everyone did whatever they thought was right
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for my breath and the lungs that make it possible. Thank you for the fresh Spring air. And thank you for the two matching scriptures to use for today’s prayer for your daughter:
In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (Judges 17:6)
and
In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)
Lord, I’m here again to sit with you. When things get a bit hectic it is nice to know that I can still have time to sit with you. Today seems like an interesting scripture for the prayer for your daughter Lindsey! Perhaps it tells of things to watch out for! So, Lindsey, I pray for you today that you would be able to discern when people are simply doing what seems right in their own eyes. I pray that you would recognize this and not follow in their footsteps, but instead would continue following the path that God sets before you, for you know that we are not supposed to do whatever we want, but should do what is right in God’s eyes. And we will give the glory to the Lord. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Rest, and let your Heavenly Father carry you like a father carries his child
Heavenly Father, it’s me. I am enjoying your presence now and thank you for your promise to be with me, that if I draw near to you then you will draw near to me. Thank you for walking with me, for being my guide, for lighting the way. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. (Deuteronomy 1:30-31)
Lord, I am here … let me rest in you. And while I rest here, let me begin today’s prayer for your daughter you love. Today I pray for you Lindsey, that you would see before your eyes how your God goes before you and fights for you. I pray that you will see how God not only fights for you, but also can pick you up and carry you when you let him. If you feel exhausted, just rest in him and let him carry you for a bit, just like a father will carry his son. And we can give the glory to God. All the glory is yours Lord. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Lindsey, if you hear God knocking, open the door quickly!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for another day with you. Thank you for your promise to be with me always. However, before I begin praying for your daughter Lindsey, may I first ask if you would grant me rest. I need rest right now Lord. But now let me look at the scripture you gave me for my prayer this day for Lindsey:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)
Lord, I’m glad to be sitting with you now. It is a high point of my day (as always). And right now I lift up Lindsey, your daughter who loves you. Lord, if you are knocking on her door for something, I ask that you knock loudly and continually till she hears and opens the door to you. Then I ask that you have a wonderful meal together, laughing and sharing stories as you let her know the path that you are setting before her. But I also ask that you show her how compassionate you are. Grant her mercy. And we will give the glory to you. The glory is all yours Lord. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Heavenly Father, good morning. What a nice bright sunny morning it is. Thank you for the sunshine. Thank you for the green grass seen everywhere once again. And thank you for the scripture to base today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

A chance to reconsider what God has asked of you and to do it
Heavenly Father, good morning. It finally is feeling like Spring. Thank you for the change of seasons. Thank you for the winter that helps me to appreciate spring more. Thank you for your Word and for the stories that Jesus told, even the ones that I don’t think I fully understand yet (and I ask you for further understanding). And thank you for this particular story that I think I finally figured out, at least partially:
But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. (Matthew 21:28-31a)
Lord, it’s me. Here I am! You asked me to pray and to keep on praying for your daughter you love so much. And so I am. I am praying another prayer for you today Lindsey. Today I believe I am to pray that you jump at the chance to do something God has asked you before but somehow never got done. Or the chance to go somewhere God asked you before but that you hesitated and didn’t go. I am praying for you today Lindsey, that you recognize this and jump at the chance that God gives you to reconsider and do it now (even though previously you had told him “no” or “I can’t”). And I pray that the Lord would give you the courage to do just that. I pray that he would show you the path you need to take and that he would make it very clear to you. I pray that obstacles would be removed for you. And I pray that God would give you the words when you need them. And we will give all the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Look out for the interests of others
Heavenly Father, hello. Thank you for the heart of compassion. Thank you for a humble love for others. Thank you for eyes to see that which is not visible. And thank you for the scripture that is the basis of today’s prayer for Lindsey, you daughter:
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. (Philippians 2:4)
Lord, I am pleased to be here. I am happy that you call me to come sit with you every day so that I can pray for your daughter Lindsey. It is a joy to lift Lindsey up to you Lord. I pray that you extend the compassion in her heart. I pray that you enhance her vision to see that which is not visible. I ask that you help her to look out for the interest of others ahead of her own interests. I pray that those who are watching her will see this and want to do the same! And we will give all the glory to you Lord. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
