Lindsey, today, for the letter W, I am reading and rereading about the characteristics of a Wife of noble character. Many of these characteristics would be good to imitate, and you already are doing so for many of them. I pray that you would continue to be a virtuous role model for the young women of this age!
Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for opening my eyes and my ears as well as my head and my heart to what you are doing in the world today. Thank you for the many godly people you have surrounded me with. And thank you for constantly being with Lindsey and encouraging her to continue to be a role model for young women today, with many of the characteristics mentioned in Proverbs 31:25-31:
- Strength and honour are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice in time to come. - She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness. - She looketh well to the ways of her household,
and eateth not the bread of idleness. - Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her. - Many daughters have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them all. - Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. - Give her of the fruit of her hands;
and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Lord, here I am. I am ready to start my next day’s prayer for Lindsey, the daughter you love. Lindsey, I pray that God would gift you with more than mere entertainment talents, more than dancing skills, more than musical giftings. I pray that God would gift you the many characteristics that Proverbs speaks of referring to a wife of noble character. I pray that you would have the courage to remain virtuous in the midst of a culture that often is not. I pray that God would give you strength and honor as your clothes, and that you would look to the future with great joy and rejoicing. I pray that wisdom and kindness would be what others hear when you speak. I pray that your example will help those who are idle and bored to see that there is a better way. I pray that the young women today would call you blessed and that young men would praise you. I pray that you would excel in virtue ignoring favor and beauty but clinging to a reverent fear of the Lord. I pray that you would be rewarded for all that you do and that your deeds would bring you praise. And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen
Wife of Noble Character – Proverbs 31:10-31 KJV/NLT
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. | Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. |
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. | Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. |
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. | She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. |
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. | She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. |
14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. | She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. |
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. | She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls. |
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. | She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. |
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. | She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. |
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. | She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night. |
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. | Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. |
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. | She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. |
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. | She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes. |
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. | She makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns. |
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. | Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders. |
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. | She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. |
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. | She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. |
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. | When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. |
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. | She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. |
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. | Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: |
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. | “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” |
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. | Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. |
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. | Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. |
