Lindsey, I pray that like the 5 wise virgins, you will always be watching and alert and that you will always be ready!
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the rain as it is needed for the trees and plants. Thank you for the sunshine that also is needed by those trees and plants. Thank you for showing us growth within your creation! And thank you for the scripture to use for the letter V for the virgins of honor, the wise virgins:
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. (Matthew 25:1-4)
And what happened when the bridegroom arrived in the middle of the night?
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. (Matthew 25:7-9)
Lord, I am here again to pray for Lindsey, as usual! Today I pray for wisdom for you Lindsey. I pray that the virgins of honor, the wise virgins would be an example to you. I pray that you would also remember to carry extra oil with you wherever you go. Every single day! I pray that you never would end up like the five foolish virgins who had to scurry around at the last minute and find out it was then TOO LATE! I also pray that God would grant you discernment to know when the oil you have is meant just for you, when it is not for others who have left theirs behind. And finally, I pray that you would be able to constantly be alert, ever watchful and always ready. And the glory we will give to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen
Virgins of Honor (Matthew 25:1-13 KJV/NET)
|Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.||“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of the virgins were foolish, and five were wise. 3 When the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extra olive oil with them. 4 But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.5 When the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.|
|6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.||6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him.’7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ 9 ‘No,’ they replied. ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’|
|10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.||10 But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then the door was shut. 11 Later, the other virgins came too, saying, ‘Lord, lord! Let us in!’ 12 But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I do not know you!’|
|13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.||13 Therefore stay alert, because you do not know the day or the hour.|
