The Lord’s Supper

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for our country, our city, our community. Thank you for the many ways people can interact with each other. Thank you for the many opportunities to be kind to others throughout the day. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit your of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. (Matthew 26:26-29)

Lord, I’m here to lift up Lindsey again today (as usual). Yesterday we shared the scripture for the Lord’s prayer. Today we share the scripture for the Lord’s supper. We are reminded by Jesus’s words that he was soon to suffer immensely, be scourged and pierced and give his life for us, for forgiveness of our sins. We repent for our sins Lord. We turn from them and turn to you. We look forward to the day we drink with you in your Father’s kingdom. And we give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

NASB:
While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said,“Take, eat; this is My body.” And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying,“Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

HCSB:
As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take and eat it; this is My body.” Then He took a cup, and after giving thanks, He gave it to them and said, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins. But I tell you, from this moment I will not drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it in a new way in My Father’s kingdom with you.”

KJV translation note

The King James Version is a beautiful translation of the original Hebrew and Greek, however I sometimes find Old English hard to understand fully. 1 or 2 other translations can help clarify what it is saying so I can understand it. More Info CLICK: References
