Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for thunder and lightning (and how they both are actually the same thing) for it allows us just a glimpse of how power can be unleashed in the world. Thank you for the display of lightning that goes across the sky in an instant and a blink of an eye later is completely gone. Thank you for the LOUD crack of thunder to remind us of the power that was behind that very brief display in the sky. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:24-34)

Lord, I’m here again to pray for your daughter. I enjoy my time here and the chance to lift her up to you. Lindsey, today is a day to remember that all you need to do is to seek FIRST the kingdom of God. If you do that God has said not to worry, that he would take care of you. Not only just take care of you, but that he would ADD all the things you need to the result of seeking first his kingdom. He also reminds you that tomorrow will have its own problems and troubles … all you need to do is focus on today’s :) Lord, I ask that as Lindsey does seek first your kingdom, that you would show up in her life each day to relieve some of the problems of each day. Let her feel your presence as you take care of her wherever she may be.  And all the glory is yours. The glory all goes to you. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

NLT:
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.  And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’  These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God  above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
