Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you moonlight. Thank you for moonlight so bright that you can see all around you. And thank you for the moonless nights once a month where the stars just glitter and shine… where “shooting stars” are so visible and amazing. And thank you for the scriptures for today’s prayer for Lindsey:
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (James 4:6)
He said it in Proverbs:
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. (Proverbs 3:34)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to sit with you. The world seems a bit out of focus today, but I know that I can sit with you regardless of my situation. And now I ask you to look upon your daughter Lindsey. She loves you Lord. And now I pray for you Lindsey. I pray that you would always see a way to remain humble in spite of being set high by thousands of your fans. I pray that you would feel a pang* in your spirit any time you begin to feel arrogantly proud. I pray that when you sense this, that you’d look to Jesus and be proud that you are his friend and delight. Lord, I ask that you watch over Lindsey on the journey you set before her. It is so very tempting to become proud when continually, day after day, people are telling you that you are the greatest, the the most talented, the most inspirational. Lord, you gave the exceptional talents and skills to Lindsey and you want her to use them to the fullest. And so I pray that you also grant her exceptional grace and favor as she strives to remain humble amidst the mountains of praise heaped on her every single day. Grant her your favor Lord. Grant her your grace. Show her how to properly react to praise she receives. And we will give you the glory. We will give you the praise. All praise and glory is yours Lord. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (*see note at the end of the prayer scriptures)
*NOTE: I wasn’t sure if I was using “pang” correctly, so I did a DEFINE: PANG in google and look at what was at the very top of the results (true – I did not edit this at all – the example used the name Lindsey):
-
a sudden sharp pain or painful emotion.“Lindsey experienced a sharp pang of guilt”synonyms: pain, sharp pain, shooting pain, twinge, stab, spasm
New Testament (James 4:6 NET):
6 But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”
Old Testament (Proverbs 3:34 NET):
34 Although he is scornful to arrogant scoffers,
yet he shows favor to the humble
