Gain the Whole World but Lose Your Soul? Choose Wisely!

Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the air we breathe. Thank you for how refreshing a breath of fresh air can be. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus speaking] And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. (Mark 8:34-38)

Lord, I’m here. I’m here again as usual. I’m here on behalf of Lindsey, your daughter you love. Lindsey, this scripture is interesting how Jesus clearly lets us know that if we try to get ahead in this world while ignoring him, that he in turn will be ashamed of us when he comes again. So I pray that as you become more and more popular in the eyes of the world, that you will continue to give the credit and the glory to God. I pray that any time you face a choice of advancing in this world by ignoring Jesus that you will always make a good choice. I pray for extra wisdom for you Lindsey. I pray that you will always have good people around you to advise you when the world gets so very tempting. I pray that you would never be ashamed to tell people that you follow Jesus and center you life around him. And together we can give the glory to God. Glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

ESV:
And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.  For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?  For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

KJV translation note

The King James Version is a beautiful translation of the original Hebrew and Greek, however I sometimes find Old English hard to understand fully. 1 or 2 other translations can help clarify what it is saying so I can understand it. More Info CLICK: References
