Jesus offers you rest!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for soap. Thank you for the means to clean ourselves and our clothes. Thank you for the example of how we can feel more refreshed after we are washed. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you. I came to rest. I need your rest. It is one thing that I ask for quite often. And I now am asking for your rest for Lindsey. She seems to be in the spotlight one way or another constantly. She has so much to plan, so much to remember, so much to actually DO! I ask that you continue to surround her with people who can help her stay refreshed… refreshed in you. I ask that you nudge her to pause now and then to just sit with you. And then I ask that you let her feel your rest come upon her. And we will give you the glory. The glory is yours. I ask this all in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

The Lord’s Supper

Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for our country, our city, our community. Thank you for the many ways people can interact with each other. Thank you for the many opportunities to be kind to others throughout the day. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit your of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. (Matthew 26:26-29)

Lord, I’m here to lift up Lindsey again today (as usual). Yesterday we shared the scripture for the Lord’s prayer. Today we share the scripture for the Lord’s supper. We are reminded by Jesus’s words that he was soon to suffer immensely, be scourged and pierced and give his life for us, for forgiveness of our sins. We repent for our sins Lord. We turn from them and turn to you. We look forward to the day we drink with you in your Father’s kingdom. And we give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

The Lord’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for flowers! Thank you for the lupine flower that my friends talked about this morning. Thank you for how such a simple flower can be so majestic when seen in a group. Thank you for how the colors of that same flower can vary so greatly, yet the flower itself is solid in one color. Thank you for how grouped together the different colors go so well together! Perhaps this is an example of how differences can add even more to what individually was quite good! And thank  you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Lord, I’m here again. I came to sit with you this morning as usual. I’m here to lift up your daughter you love. Lindsey, today’s scripture reminds us of how Jesus prayed … prayed often and in many ways. But today’s scripture is often referred to as his model prayer. So we can pray it together now. We pray to our heavenly Father and honor his name. We ask for his will to be done right here, right now.  We ask for him to continue to be our provider and to forgive us as we also remember that we too forgive others! And we ask for him to protect us from the evil in the world and give him all the glory. Yes, the glory goes to God. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Be a Secret Santa all year long!

Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for my many meals, the food you provide for me. Thank you for being my provider today as well as every day in the past. Thank you for assuring me that you will be my provider in the days to come as well. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey with something that Jesus said:

[Jesus said:] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:1-4)

Lord, here I am again. I am here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey again as usual. My prayer for you today Lindsey is interesting because you have placed yourself in the public eye and in this way quite a bit of what you do is seen by others. So I pray that today you would find ways to be charitable to others without anyone knowing it was you. I pray that opportunities will appear for you to be a secret Santa for others today. And God, who sees all you do will reward you (rather than be rewarded by man). And all the glory goes to God. Glory! I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Welcome the children in the name of Jesus

Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for my family. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. (Matthew 18:5)

Lord, I’m here again ready to begin another daily prayer for your daughter you love. Lindsey, today I pray that you will have many opportunities to welcome children, to receive children and to do it in the name of Jesus for then you in turn will receive Jesus as he welcomes you! Lord, open the doors for Lindsey to do this today and in the coming week. And all the glory goes to you Lord. The glory is all yours. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

Humble yourself Lindsey – that is the key to greatness!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the house that I am so happy to have. Thank you for my home. Thank you for being my provider Lord. And thank you for the scripture to use for my prayer this day for Lindsey:

[Jesus said:] Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:4)

Lord, it’s me. I’m here to pray for your daughter again. Lindsey, today I pray that you would always remember the key to greatness according to Jesus. I pray that the Lord would give you ways to remember this. I pray that those around you would also help you to remember this truth. Stay humble. Stay yourself. Stay your humble self! And all the glory goes to God. The glory is all his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

Be just like a little child if you want to enter the kingdom of heaven

Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for another wonderful day. Thank you for the wonderful weather. Thank you for letting me sense your presence all around me. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:2-3)

Lord, I’m here as usual on behalf of your daughter you love, to pray for something that she seems to have already! Lindsey, it seems like you have embraced today’s scripture wholeheartedly. You have such a childlike joy just bursting out from within you. And today I thank the Lord that you indeed are ready to enter into the kingdom of heaven. And I pray that you would continue holding fast unto this quality. I ask that the Lord would remind you now and then that becoming like a little child is a GOOD THING! Never be ashamed of it. And all the glory goes to God. The glory is all his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

Welcome God to come – sing and play your instruments (and maintain a childlike enthusiasm!)

Good Morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the waves upon the beach. Thank you for the joy they bring to the children. Thank you for the excitement in their voices, in their eyes, in their jumping around. Thank you for reminding us that we are to be like little children if we are to enter the kingdom of heaven*. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey, who is very much like those energetic, enthusiastic children:

Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. (2 Chronicles 5:12-14)

Lord, here I am again. I am here on behalf of Lindsey again today as usual. I ask that whenever she plays her violin and praises you Lord, that you would fill that place even if it is a concert hall or outdoor music festival! And all the glory is yours Lord. Glory! I ask this all in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

*And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)

(V) Virgins of Honor (keep extra oil to shine brightly)

Lindsey, I pray that like the 5 wise virgins, you will always be watching and alert and that you will always be ready!

Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the rain as it is needed for the trees and plants. Thank you for the sunshine that also is needed by those trees and plants. Thank you for showing us growth within your creation! And thank you for the scripture to use for the letter V for the virgins of honor, the wise virgins:

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. (Matthew 25:1-4)

And what happened when the bridegroom arrived in the middle of the night?

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. (Matthew 25:7-9)

Lord, I am here again to pray for Lindsey, as usual! Today I pray for wisdom for you Lindsey. I pray that the virgins of honor, the wise virgins would be an example to you. I pray that you would also remember to carry extra oil with you wherever you go. Every single day! I pray that you never would end up like the five foolish virgins who had to scurry around at the last minute and find out it was then TOO LATE!  I also pray that God would grant you discernment to know when the oil you have is meant just for you, when it is not for others who have left theirs behind. And finally, I pray that you would be able to constantly be alert, ever watchful and always ready.  And the glory we will give to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)

(S) Salome – faithful through thick and thin

Lindsey, the woman in the Bible for the letter S is Salome. Her two sons got the nickname “sons of thunder” – Jesus himself called them that! She followed Jesus and ministered and supported him right up to his crucifixion. Even when others deserted or even betrayed Jesus, Salome stuck with Jesus!

Heavenly Father. Good morning. Thank you for the godly people you have surrounded me with. Thank you for these good role models I have around me. And thank you for the story of Salome who raised up her sons of thunder while supporting and ministering to your son Jesus!

There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) (Mark 15:40-41)

and

And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. (Mark 16:1-2)

Lord, it’s me. I’m here to pray for your daughter you love. Lindsey, I pray that you would be like Salome. I pray that you would raise up some sons of thunder around you. I pray that God would boost your faithfulness and replace doubts with truth. When others desert Jesus, may you stick close to him. When others say Jesus is dead, may you know that he is alive. When others say Jesus rose again, may you think to yourself, “yeah, I knew that!”.  And we will give all the glory to him. The glory is all his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen

Salome
