Things Jesus Said
List of prayers based on Things Jesus Said:
With God, all things are possible!
Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for another day with you. Thank you for my life and for my breath. Thank you for being near to me. And thank you for the scripture to use for the last day of prayers based on things Jesus said!
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
Yep… it is me again, Lord. I’m here as usual to sit with you and to lift up your daughter Lindsey to you. I ask that you be with her today. I ask that you remind her that all things are possible for you, so she need not worry. I ask that you let her know it is you reminding her of this truth. Even more … I ask that you do something for her this week that only you can do… I ask that you do something that Lindsey can see with her own eyes that she KNOWS could only have been done by her God! And we will give you the glory. All the glory is yours Lord. I ask this all in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Golden Rule
Good Morning Heavenly Father! Thank you for being with my family today. Thank you for keeping everything calm all day. Thank you for helping me in knowing what to do now and what to do tomorrow. And thank you for the scripture to use for the prayer for your daughter you love:
[Jesus said:] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12)
Lord, it’s me. I am here as usual. I’m ready to begin another prayer for another day for Lindsey, your daughter. Lindsey, today our scripture is sometimes referred to as the Golden Rule. It seems that you follow it already, but today I am praying that it become a habit. Lord, Lindsey is following you. She listens for your voice. She reads your Word daily. I ask that you give her an added touch of your joy each time she treats others as she hopes they will treat her. Let her smile each time she is doing something for someone else. Let others see how gracious she is towards others. And I pray that she would continue to be a role model to the many who are watching her attentively. I pray that they would see how Jesus is at the root of her life in public as well in her private life. And Lord, I pray that you would help her to have more private time, more time out of the eye of the public. I pray that you would help her to find rest, to find rest in you Lord. And we will give the glory to you. All the glory is yours Lord. Glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Ask, Seek, Knock! A good habit!
In Greek: Matthew 7:7 – Αιτειτε και δοθησεται υμιν, ζητειτε και ευρησετε, κρουετε και ανοιγσεται υμιν·
Looking at each of the verbs here we see that αιειτε, ζητειτε, and κρουετε are each in the present active imperative with the present being in a customary sense as in “make it a habit” to ask, seek, knock – in other words: ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking.
Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for the wind. I can’t see where it is coming from nor where it is going. I can’t even see it, yet I know it is there because I can feel it. I might not be able to see you Heavenly Father, but I can feel you all around me, so I know that you are there. Thank you also for the scripture for today’s prayer, which is one of the few places where scripture points out what we should be striving to make a habit in our lives… make it a habit to ask… make it a habit to seek… make it a habit to knock:
[Jesus said:] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to sit with you. I’m here on behalf of your daughter Lindsey. Today, I pray over your habits Lindsey. You may have a habit of practicing on your violin (or even in the air while sitting in a car… click to see it). Jesus seems to be suggesting that you add another habit to your life (or is this already firmly in place for you?) To become a habit, we must actually do something repeatedly for a while. And so, today I pray that you would keep in tune to the Lord as you walk with him each day. Ask for what you need. Seek the opportunities. Knock at doors so they may open to you. And then do it all over again the next day (or even the next hour). Be persistent. And Lord, I pray that you would open the appropriate doors when Lindsey knocks. I pray that you would reveal to her all that she seeks after. And I pray that her asking would not be in vain, but that you give to her when you hear her asking. The glory is all yours Lord. Glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Where are your treasures? That’s where your heart will be!
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for revitalized friendships. Thank you for coffeeshops that allow conversations off to the side yet not in private. Thank you for your Word that you gave to us and thank you to all those who kept it intact and translated it into our own language! And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for your daughter Lindsey:
[Jesus said:] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here as I am every day, on behalf of your daughter you love. Lindsey, I pray a big prayer for you today. I pray that God would help you to see where your treasures really are. Are they a collection of beautiful violins? Are they a throng of people screaming with enjoyment during one of your performances? Is your treasure racking up a billion views on YouTube? All these seem to be a result of God’s favor on your life. Yet, Jesus today seems to be reminding you to take care! Be careful about what exactly you treat as your ultimate treasure! I pray that God would give you many opportunities in the coming week for you to DO THINGS that matter for God’s kingdom. I pray that God would open doors for you in this regard. I pray that you would recognize these opportunities and that you would have the courage to walk through the doors, that you can bravely walk on the path God shows you! Look into your heart today Lindsey. Double-check it. It is following after what you treasure most. I pray that today you would be accumulating treasures in heaven. I pray that you will set out to store up more heavenly treasures this day. I pray that the desires of your heart would be heavenly today, and that it would be evident to all those around you. And all the glory goes to God. The glory is all his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
When kicked, what comes out? Good? Evil?
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the rain that is essential for growth. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer that reminds me of something I learned a decade ago:
[Jesus said:] For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45)
Lord, I am here to sit with you, as usual. I am here to begin another day’s prayer for Lindsey, your daughter you love. Lindsey, today I pray for your heart. I pray that your heart would be filled with good. I pray that whenever you find your heart filled with ill intent, anger, frustration, evil … that God would help you to notice it and give you suggestions on what you can do to remove the bad and refill with good. Perhaps today’s scripture helps point out that we need to monitor our own hearts. A good indicator is what happens when we are kicked. When you get kicked, slighted, put down, insulted … what comes out of your mouth? Yes, your mouth, for out of the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks! If honey comes out, praise God that your heart is doing well. However, if you snap, yell, mumble, insult back … then take note that your built in indicator just lit up it’s red warning light. Your heart has been infiltrated with evil. Your heart has become a bit corrupted. I pray that when your warning indicator lights up that God would help you to notice it immediately and that he would show you what you need to do to refresh your heart, to refill it with good to overflowing and to expel everything that has polluted your heart! This is not easy, so I pray that God would be there at your side and that he would help you. I pray that he would pull you out of any pit you may have fallen into. I pray that he would dust you off, fill you with his joy and send you back smiling. And we can give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
What do you see? What do you hear? Jesus privately asks you!
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for vision. Vision in dim light. Vision in bright light. Peripheral vision. Depth perception. Vision itself is a wonder. Thank you. And thank you for the scripture for today’s prayer for Lindsey, your daughter you love.
And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. (Luke 10:23-24)
Lord, I’m here to sit with you again. Look at Lindsey Lord. Look at your daughter who loves you and strives to please and praise you every day and enjoys telling others about it. Today I ask that you bless her Lord. Open her eyes that she may see things that prophets desired to see. Open her ears that she may hear things kings wished to hear. I also ask that you open her mind to understand what she sees and to find meaning in what she hears. Come sit with her and explain it to her. And we will give you the glory. The glory is all yours. Glory! I ask this all in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Don’t be afraid! Just believe!
Heavenly Father, good morning! Thank you for the new day. Thank you for joy that is evident in your creation. Thank you for cheerful birds singing in the morning. Thank you for the rising sun to welcome the day. And thank you for the scripture as the base for today’s prayer for Lindsey:
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. (Mark 5:35-36)
Lord, I’m here again. I’ve come to sit with you again today. I am ready to begin today’s prayer for your daughter who loves you. Lindsey, do not be afraid. Do not fear. Just believe in Jesus. What a very simple foundation for daily life. Simple, yes. Easy, no. It is not easy to keep clear of fear. And so today I pray that the Lord would be with you to increase your courage and let you be brave at heart. I pray that he would reduce any fear that may appear before your eyes. I pray that he would replace fear with courage. And I pray that you would strive each day to only believe. Only believe in Jesus. And all the glory is his. All the glory! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
With Jesus in paradise
Good morning Heavenly Father. Thank you for breakfast to start my day. Thank you for the tiny group of friends that gather with me weekday mornings to read your word around a table in a restaurant or coffee shop. And thank you for the scripture to use for today’s prayer for Lindsey, your daughter:
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Luke 23:39-43)
Lord, I’m here again and ready to start a prayer for today for your daughter you love. Lindsey, today’s scripture reminds you that there is indeed a paradise because Jesus himself says so. He confirmed that the criminal who repented would be there in paradise after he died. So today I pray that you would hear Jesus confirming to you that he has a place for you in paradise as well. I pray that with that to look forward to, that you may be filled with such joy that it continues to overflow from you and is contagious to all around you. May God’s joy fill you. And may that joy in you that others see be a sign to them of the good news available to all. And we will give the glory to God. All the glory is his. I pray this in the name of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
Go out into the world… go out there teaching as well as playing violin!
Heavenly Father, good morning. Thank you for the children. Thank you for holding the children up as an example for us. Thank you for letting us know that it is not only OK to be like a child … but it is preferable! And thank you for your word today to speak over your daughter you love… this is the word for your Lindsey:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Lord, I’m here again. I’m here to begin another prayer for your daughter. Lindsey, today the scripture given to me to pass along to you in this prayer is a powerful one. Jesus is telling you to GO. Yes, I know that you are GOing almost all the time. Jesus is telling you to go to THE NATIONS! Yes, I know that you just got back from going out to the nations around the world. But Jesus is saying a bit more that just GO … a bit more than just go to THE NATIONS. Yes, he wants you to take your violins out with you. He wants you to utilize the gifts, skills and talents that he has given you. But he says it is more than just that. While you are going, while you are in the nations, while you are out there in the world he wants you ALSO to be teaching. Yes, you can be teaching wherever you go because Jesus said you can. He sent you. Teach all the things he has commanded (which means that you are wise to be reading the Bible every day so that you know what God is saying to everyone). So I pray for you as you go. I pray for you as you go to the nations. And I pray for you as you teach there. I pray that you can teach by what you do as well as by what you say. I pray that God will give you the words as well as the opportunities. And we can both glorify God. The glory is all his. GLORY! I pray this in the name and authority of Christ Jesus, King of kings. Amen (more…)
